Nomad Two Worlds

Created by world renowned photographer Russell James, NOMAD TWO WORLDS is a collaborative art project with Indigenous artists. In the last decade it has evolved from James’ individual attempt to understand the clash of ancient and modern cultures he witnessed growing up in Australia to what it is today – a powerful expression of partnership and reconciliation in action through art, music and film that has become a global example of true collaboration across deep cultural divides.

Below is a short movie: INNOCENCE
One of three short films in the Nomad Two Worlds touring exhibition, James has imagined and created an underwater world inhabited by a near perfect creature called ‘Innocence’ representing the vast passage of time of indigenous reign prior to the arrival of modern man.

Below are some artworks created from artistic collaborations between photographer, Russell James and Indigenous Australian, Native American and Haitian artists.

Pool Paint attack

Experimental and slightly mental. The D*Face spray paint skateboard interface. What better way to paint the pool then letting everyone get involved? With high-tech remotely controlled spray can apparatus mounted to the underside of skateboards…every line a skater took became the paint job of the pool.

Ralf Brueck is a german art photographer who transforms a mere photo into an autonomous individual work of art. The visual and conceptual potential of an image is thereby exhaustless and the task of sounding yet undiscovered possibilities in the field of photography, often stimulated by technical development, is a topic artists commonly deal with. Along with his interest in deducing innovative forms of depiction and his specific photographic staging Ralf Brueck systematically questions the nature of photography concerning its representation of reality.
