Tomasz Gudzowaty Photography

Tomasz Gudzowaty was born in 1971. He obtained a degree in law at the University of Warsaw.

Among his interests are humanistic photography and the classic form of the black and white photo-essay. He began with nature photography and then turned to social documentary and for the last few years he has been focusing on sports photography.

He is particularly interested in non-commercial sports, and also those that are not present in the media, sports that are exotic, atypical or somehow outside the mainstream. His photos have been published in Max Magazine, L’Equipe, The Guardian, Newsweek, Forbes, Time and Photo and he is also the author of several albums.

He is a multiple winner of the most important photography contests, among others the World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year, NPPA Best of Photojournalism. He cooperates with Focus Fotoagentur in Hamburg and Warsaw’s Yours Gallery

Narco Cultura by Shaul Schwarz for Getty Images.

“Let’s face it, the heroes these days are not the lawyers or the politicians, the heroes are the
guys flashing the money,” says Narco music promoter Joel Vasquez outside a Narco-Corrido club in Los Angeles.

“The market is bigger than ever. I think we can be the next Hip-Hop.”

While death statistics have been documented ad nauseam, far less has been said about the broader social reality created by the drug trade and affecting the lives of millions of Latin-Americans. For many here, narco traffickers provide the only models of fame and success. Greed, drugs and violence have now created a new culture – a Narco Culture.

A ten-year trip visiting 74 prisons for men and women in every South American country turned out to be a portrait of the Continent, describing troubles, violence and massive overcrowding, as well as lifestyle, habits and the mood of the inmates. The story offers an in-depth view of the mind and soul of prisoners.

Below is a selection of some of Pep Bonet’s photography albums that I got on the Noor’s website.

Pep Bonet’s photos simply speak for themselves but for me his high contrasted approach really gives power and importance to his subjects and composition. His passion for human causes manifests itself in the intense contrast of his images and makes his work remarkable.

“I do believe photography has the power of allowing people to see and to feel for themselves. They can see something they didn’t know about or see it through different eyes, from a different point of view.” Pep Bonet

Photojournalism is by far what I enjoy the most in photography and Brent Stirton is probably the best of his kind.

His award-winning work has been widely recognized for its powerful depiction of issues related to conflict, health and environmental issues. Stirton specializes in documentary work and is known for his alternative approaches to photojournalism, including lighting portraiture in the field, and his prolific work rate. He travels an average of nine months of the year, working exclusively on commissioned assignment.

Brent Stirton is the senior staff photographer for the assignment division of Getty Images, New York.
